The Winnipeg Box Lacrosse Commission is gearing up for a thrilling 2026 season with the introduction of tiered play in the U13, U15 and U17 age divisions. Depending on league registration numbers, divisions may feature multiple competitive tiers, such as U15 Tier I and U15 Tier II. Ensuring balanced matchups and high-intensity action across the board. Preseason evaluations will determine team placement, setting the stage for an exciting, skill-driven season.
Girls box lacrosse is back and stronger than ever. For 2026, all-girls teams will be offered at the U11, U13, U15, U17 and U22 age divisions, bringing expanded opportunities and a dedicated pathway for female athletes. Teams will follow the scheduling format as the coed divisions, making it easier than ever for players to jump in and compete.
The Winnipeg Box Lacrosse Commission has rolled out new zone boundaries, and while there is a shift in certain areas including ours, families can feel confident knowing these changes will not affect any existing players who played lacrosse before. If you are a Gryphon, you stay a Gryphon. These updated boundaries apply only to families who have never played before. Gryphons Lacrosse is working with the MLA to ensure that families have an opportunity to provide input on the changes, be consulted and heard; ensuring continuity, stability, and the same strong community experience our families value.
The Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) and the Winnipeg Box Lacrosse Commission will be adopting the World Lacrosse rules for the 2026 season. The league will be adopting these rules along with the CLA age and stage modifications. Some highlights include:
